Refund & Return Policy

Most of our products are produced specifically after an order is placed. Please carefully review the product, size, colour, shipping address, and order details before completing your purchase.

This policy explains when cancellations, replacements, returns, and refunds are available.

Please inspect your order as soon as it is delivered.

Contact us within 30 days of delivery if your item:

  • Arrives damaged;
  • Has a manufacturing defect;
  • Contains a significant printing error;
  • Is the wrong product;
  • Is the wrong size or colour because of our error;
  • Is materially different from the product you ordered; or
  • Arrives with missing items.

To report an issue, contact us and include:

  • Your full name;
  • Your order number;
  • A description of the problem;
  • A clear photograph of the entire product;
  • Close-up photographs showing the damage or defect;
  • A photograph of the size label where relevant; and
  • A photograph of the packaging if the item was damaged during shipping.

After reviewing your claim, we may provide:

  • A free replacement;
  • A full refund;
  • A partial refund; or
  • Another appropriate solution.

You will normally not need to return a damaged, defective, or incorrectly produced item unless we specifically ask you to do so.

Claims submitted more than 30 days after delivery may not be accepted, except where applicable law requires otherwise.

Small differences may occur because of:

  • Fabric texture;
  • Garment size;
  • Printing method;
  • Print placement;
  • Lighting;
  • Photography; and
  • Differences between device screens.

Minor differences that do not materially affect the overall appearance or usability of the product are not normally considered defects.

However, significant printing errors, incorrect designs, major colour differences, or manufacturing defects should be reported to us.

Customers are responsible for selecting the correct size and colour before placing an order.

Please review the size guide displayed on the product page before purchasing.

We do not normally provide free replacements, exchanges, or refunds when:

  • The wrong size was selected;
  • The wrong colour was selected;
  • The customer changes their mind;
  • The customer no longer wants the product; or
  • The product fits differently from what the customer expected despite matching the published size guide.

This does not affect any mandatory cancellation or consumer rights that apply in your country.

Outside any mandatory rights provided by applicable law, BAD DEPT. does not normally accept returns or exchanges for buyer’s remorse or a change of mind.

Each product is produced after an order is received, and we do not maintain traditional returned inventory.

Where applicable consumer law gives you a legal right to cancel an online purchase, that legal right will continue to apply.

Customers in certain countries or regions may have a legal right to cancel an online purchase within a specified period.

Where such a right applies, you must notify us clearly of your decision to cancel within the legally required period.

For customers covered by a 14-day withdrawal right:

  • You must notify us within 14 days after receiving the product;
  • You must return the eligible product within 14 days after notifying us;
  • The product may be inspected in the same way it would be inspected in a physical store;
  • The customer is responsible for return shipping unless applicable law requires otherwise;
  • We recommend using tracked shipping; and
  • The customer may be responsible for any reduction in value caused by handling beyond what was necessary to inspect the product.

Do not return an item without first contacting us. We will provide the correct return instructions and return address.

Where legally required, an approved withdrawal refund will include the product price and the cost of the least expensive standard delivery option offered by us. Additional costs for express or upgraded shipping may not be refunded.

We may wait until we receive the returned item, or proof that it has been sent, before issuing the refund.

Products created using customer-provided names, text, images, artwork, measurements, or other individual instructions are personalised products.

Except where applicable law requires otherwise, personalised products cannot be returned or refunded because of:

  • A change of mind;
  • Incorrect information submitted by the customer;
  • Dissatisfaction with customisation that matches the approved instructions; or
  • An incorrect size or colour selected by the customer.

Personalised products remain eligible for assistance when they arrive damaged, defective, incorrectly produced, or materially different from the approved order.

We do not normally offer direct exchanges.

If applicable law allows you to return an eligible non-defective product, you may return it according to the instructions we provide and place a separate order for the preferred size, colour, or product.

Verified damaged, defective, or incorrect products may be replaced without requiring a new order.

Contact us immediately if you need to cancel or modify an order.

Orders may enter production shortly after payment is confirmed. We cannot guarantee a cancellation or change after production has started.

Requested changes may include:

  • Product size;
  • Product colour;
  • Design;
  • Quantity;
  • Shipping address; or
  • Shipping method.

If we successfully cancel the order before production begins, you will receive a refund to the original payment method.

Once production has started, cancellation or modification may no longer be possible, except where applicable law provides otherwise.

Customers are responsible for entering a complete and accurate shipping address.

BAD DEPT. is not responsible for delivery problems caused by:

  • An incorrect address;
  • An incomplete address;
  • A missing apartment or unit number;
  • An incorrect postal code;
  • An incorrect recipient name; or
  • An address changed after the order entered production.

Contact us immediately after ordering if you notice an address error. We cannot guarantee that the address can be changed after production or shipping has started.

If an order must be reproduced or reshipped because the customer supplied incorrect information, the customer may be responsible for the additional production and shipping costs.

The customer may be responsible for additional charges when a package is:

  • Refused by the recipient;
  • Not collected from a post office or pickup location;
  • Returned because the customer was unavailable;
  • Returned because of unpaid customs charges; or
  • Returned because the address provided was incorrect or incomplete.

Original shipping charges may not be refundable in these circumstances.

Contact us before requesting reshipment. Additional production or shipping charges may apply.

If your package has not arrived by the estimated delivery date, please:

  • Review the tracking information;
  • Check your mailbox and surrounding delivery area;
  • Ask household members or neighbours;
  • Check with your building reception;
  • Contact the local courier or postal service; and
  • Confirm that the delivery address was correct.

If the package still cannot be located, contact us within 30 days of the estimated delivery date.

We may investigate the shipment with the delivery provider before approving a replacement or refund.

If tracking shows that your package was delivered but you cannot find it, contact the delivery provider and request proof or details of delivery.

BAD DEPT. is not automatically responsible for theft, loss, or damage occurring after a carrier confirms delivery to the correct address.

However, we will review the circumstances and assist you where reasonably possible.

Do not send a product back to the address printed on the shipping package.

That address may belong to a production or delivery facility and may not be authorised to process customer returns.

You must contact us before returning anything. We will provide the correct return instructions and address when a return is approved.

For voluntary or statutory change-of-mind returns, the customer is normally responsible for return shipping unless applicable law requires otherwise.

BAD DEPT. will cover reasonable return costs when:

  • We sent the wrong product;
  • The product has a verified manufacturing defect;
  • The product arrived materially damaged; or
  • Applicable law requires us to cover the cost.

Any return shipping cost must be approved by us before you pay it if you expect reimbursement.

Items returned without prior approval may:

  • Be rejected;
  • Be sent to the wrong facility;
  • Be lost;
  • Be destroyed; or
  • Become ineligible for a refund.

Always contact us before sending an item.

When a refund is approved, it will be issued to the original payment method.

Please allow up to 10 business days after approval for us to process the refund.

Your bank, card issuer, or payment provider may require additional time before the refund appears in your account.

Shipping, customs, and import charges are not normally refundable unless:

  • The product was damaged, defective, or incorrect;
  • The order was cancelled under an applicable statutory right; or
  • Applicable law requires the charges to be refunded.

If an approved refund has not appeared:

  1. Check your bank or payment account;
  2. Contact your card issuer or payment provider;
  3. Allow sufficient processing time; and
  4. Contact us if the expected processing period has passed.

Please include your order number and refund confirmation.

Please contact us before opening a chargeback or payment dispute.

We will make a reasonable effort to resolve problems involving:

  • Damaged products;
  • Incorrect products;
  • Lost packages;
  • Delivery problems;
  • Refund delays; and
  • Unauthorised transactions.

This section does not prevent you from exercising rights available through your payment provider or applicable law.

Nothing in this policy excludes or limits consumer rights that cannot legally be waived.

Where the laws applicable to your purchase provide stronger rights relating to cancellation, conformity, defective goods, legal guarantees, returns, replacements, or refunds, those rights will apply.
